A 2022 reflection

Last year, 2021, was a shitshow. However I sit here in December 2022, writing this, feeling very grateful.

From me going to live in Paris in the Spring, to seeing my best friends welcome beautiful new children and embark on exciting moves to new countries it has felt like a year of opportunities being seized.

I’ve visited new places, reacquinted myself with old places, spent more time with old friends, made so many new friends, started therapy, discovered ebikes (they are SO fun), started having French lessons with a nice man called Victor, had a cancer scare (I’m fine now, thanks to the NHS), reignited my love of photography, got into vermouth thanks to a gregarious Catalonian called Carlus, had one of the best meals of my life (Murano), tried and failed to run 400 miles through the alps (thanks, Covid).

It has been a year of travel, food, drink, adventure, great company, hard work, lots of love, and lots of laughter.

At the end of last year I wrote “So, as we all say goodbye to 2021, I am trying to hold onto that clarity, to make sure I spend more of my 2022 pouring my time and energy into the things and people that I love, to actually enjoy all the things that make life worth it.” and I think I have kept that promise I made to myself.

This has, in so many ways, been the best year of my life, thank you to everyone who has been a part of it, I’m very lucky, and I’m looking forward to 2023.
